KOHTI TUHOA To Issue Pelon Neljäs Valtakunta LP Through Southern Lord In North America

Helsinki, Finland’s hardcore/punk squad, KOHTI TUHOA, returns with the by-the-throat second LP, Pelon Neljäs Valtakunta. With two tracks now available for early streaming, the new album will see North American release through Southern Lord in November, with Svart handling the European release.

KOHTI TUHOA‘s 2015-issued debut LP, Rutiinin Orja, was considered by many as the most exciting hardcore punk record out of Scandinavia in ages. Their sophomore album Pelon Neljäs Valtakunta is constructed from similar building blocks of aggression based at sociopolitical injustice, but with the band’s sound taking a step further towards genre classicists such as Discharge and Disorder, not to mention classic Finnish hardcore punk acts such as Terveet Kädet, Varaus, and Riistetyt.

Recorded in May 2017 at V.R. Studio in Turku, Finland, Pelon Neljäs Valtakunta was engineered by Jussi Vuola, mixed by Jussi Vuola and KOHTI TUHOA, mastered and cut by Jukka Sarapää at Timmion Cutting, and finalized with artwork by returning artist Jaakko Karjula. The album crushes twelve relentless tracks in twenty minutes, including a cover of “Saatanan Lampaat” by Painajainen.

Stream KOHTI TUHOA’s “Kiire Läpi Elämän” and “Meille On Valehdeltu” from Pelon Neljäs Valtakunta at Southern Lord HERE.

Southern Lord will issue Pelon Neljäs Valtakunta on LP and digital formats on November 24th. Digital preorders are live HERE; stand by for physical preorder links.

BIG|BRAVE Streams Entire Ardor LP, Out Tomorrow Through Southern Lord

Montreal three-piece BIG|BRAVE will release their sophomore LP, Ardor, this Friday through Southern Lord. With just three songs that clock in for a forty-minute-long album, BIG|BRAVE has adopted a nearly unbearable level of urgency and intensity that weaves throughout Ardor. Chock full of swirling static, booming guitars, powerful drums-all the hallmarks that have made them one of experimental rock’s most exciting acts today-the album can be streamed in full today, featured on Bandcamp Daily, alongside an interview with the band.

Stream BIG|BRAVE’s Ardor, featured at Bandcamp RIGHT HERE.

As with their previous release, Au De La, the new Ardor album was recorded at the Hotel2Tango, this time by Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (of Jerusalem In My Heart). Jessica Moss (Thee Silver Mt Zion Memorial Orchestra), who was a special guest on Au De La, played violin on all the three new tracks, and Thierry Amar (Godspeed You! Black Emperor) played contrabass on two of the tracks.

Since their inception in 2012, BIG|BRAVE has demonstrated the fluidity of experimental rock and put everything into their music, until there’s nothing left to give. Their particular art in musical refinement expands ever gradually, unfurling into a very heavy, strong, and elevating force. As comfortable as they are with tidal waves of sound, BIG|BRAVE is unafraid to experiment with silence, oscillating between sparse, gentle arrangements and deep swells of noise.

Look for Ardor to be released this Friday, September 15th via Southern Lord. Watch for more news to be released in the weeks ahead.

BIG|BRAVE has also announced new tour dates coinciding with the release of Ardor, including one-off shows in Montreal and Brooklyn this month, and a run of North American dates supporting labelmates Unsane in December, with more dates to be announced.

BIG|BRAVE Tour Dates:
9/15/2017 Breakglass Studio – Montreal, QC
9/16/2017 Saint Vitus Bar – Brooklyn, NY
12/12/2017 7th St. Entry – Minneapolis, MN w/ Unsane

POWER TRIP To Support Cannibal Corpse For Fall US Tour; Band To Perform At Loudwire Awards + Live Footage With Volbeat Posted

Road warriors POWER TRIP have added another massive tour to their 2017 itinerary, as the band will support Cannibal Corpse this fall. POWER TRIP will be out on the road supporting Obituary and Exodus on their massive North American tour from September 14th through October 14th, with Dust Bolt confirmed as the opener. That month-long venture is followed by a set at the Monster Energy Houston Open Air in Houston, Texas on October 15th, where they’ll share the stage with Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Sour, Mastodon, Suicidal Tendencies, Five Finger Death Punch, Marilyn Manson, Prophets Of Rage, and many others. October 22nd will see POWER TRIP at the Monster Energy Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California, alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, Run The Jewels, Marilyn Manson, Mastodon, and tons more.

It has also been confirmed that POWER TRIP is one of the initial performers set to play at the inaugural Loudwire Music Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on October 24th. Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi has been announced as the Courage Award honoree, and Judas Priest’s Rob Halford will be receiving the “Lemmy” Lifetime Achievement Award, in addition to performances by Body Count, Halestorm, Starset, POWER TRIP, and more to be announced.

Directly following the two Monster Energy festivals and Loudwire Awards, the newly-announced tour will see POWER TRIP providing direct support for Cannibal Corpse on the band’s US fall trek. The tour will run from November 3rd through December 8th, with Gatecreeper providing opening support.

POWER TRIP vocalist Riley Gale has been documented performing with Volbeat at a recent concert the two bands played together, performing their track “Evelyn”. See the video RIGHT HERE.

Nightmare Logic, POWER TRIP’s most powerful effort yet, was released early this year to high critical acclaim and anticipation — their sophomore release does not disappoint. With hooks and tightness comparable to greats like Metallica, Pantera, or Pentagram, POWER TRIP punishes fans not only sonically but with pure songwriting skill. Nightmare Logic proves to be one of the year’s smartest and most crucial releases to spawn from the metal and punk scenes.

JESUS PIECE: Philadelphia Hardcore Outfit Signs With Southern Lord; US July Tour With Darkest Hour + European August Tour Confirmed

Southern Lord announces the signing of JESUS PIECE, confirming the release of the band’s debut LP in 2018. JESUS PIECE is also confirmed to support Darkest Hour on their US tour beginning this week, and has a European tour confirmed for August.

JESUS PIECE is a Philadelphia hardcore band that simply plays what they want to hear, and they work tirelessly to play to everyone they can. Their anthems lyrically range from personal struggle and loss, to racism, police brutality, and many other social and political injustices.

JESUS PIECE formed in 2015 and self-released their first demo/EP in the same year, followed by a self-released EP in the Summer of 2016. Issues JESUS PIECE on the new signing, “Southern Lord is a label we’ve looked up to for releasing some of our favorite metal and hardcore records, so it’s an honor to be a part of it, and we’re super excited to put out our first record with them.”

Southern Lord owner Greg Anderson states, “JESUS PIECE evokes intense, discordant, angular aggression in the same way certain ’90s bands were kicking asses with. Think Deadguy, Kiss it Goodbye, Bloodlet, Disembodied. They fuse this chaos with a brutal modern execution. Southern Lord is extremely excited to be working with JESUS PIECE and can’t wait to unleash their debut album upon the unsuspecting hordes.

JESUS PIECE will support Southern Lord labelmates Darkest Hour on their Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora Tour Part II which begins this weekend, and runs through July 23rd, with shows in Clifton, Virginia Beach, Spartanburg, Orlando, Margate, Tampa, Atlanta, and Fayetteville.

CIRCLE To Release New Studio Album, Terminal, Via Southern Lord June 23rd; “Kill City” Now Playing

CIRCLE is the very definition of genre-defying; a rare feat for any band, but effortlessly achieved by this prolific Finnish collective. CIRCLE’s latest album Terminal, confirmed for release June 23rd through Southern Lord, is pure hedonistic pleasure.

Never content on staying the same, CIRCLE has created an idiosyncratic cocktail of sonic fusions, conjuring an impulsive, dizzying energy that stirs a spirit of curiosity within the listener, and possesses all who encounter the band. Whilst many would run out of creative steam after more than thirty albums, CIRCLE continue to boldly explore sonic soundscapes, venturing curiously into terrains of Stooges-esque swagger, trance-inducing kraut rock mantras, beautiful electronic ambience, psychedelic rock noodling, arena storming AOR weirdness, ’70s prog rock extravagance, glam pop pomp, and of course their core sound, heavy metal, not to mention other peculiar and daring sounds that simply cannot be pigeonholed.

The Terminal track “Kill City” has been posted; stream it now at THIS LOCATION.

CIRCLE’s Terminal is gloriously fruitful in tones, shapes, colors, and sounds. Eccentric, accessible, delightful and thrilling. Southern Lord will issue Terminal on June 23rd; preorders are live at the Southern Lord store and Southern Lord Europe, as well as at Bandcamp.

Terminal Track Listing:
1. Rakkautta Al Dente
2. Terminal
3. Saxo
4. Imperiumi
5. Kill City
6. Sick Child

Review copies of Terminal will be issued in the coming days. For all coverage/interviews of CIRCLE in North and South America contact dave@earsplitcompound.com and in Europe and beyond contact lauren@rarelyunable.com.

Formed in 2016 by a crew of scene veterans including several current/former members of Homewrecker, CRYPT ROT enlisted Bill Korecky at the Mars Compound (Integrity, Ringworm, Homewrecker) for the recording of Embryonic Devils, the resulting anthems delivering a crushing a high-gain sound that will grab listeners with its ferocity.

No Clean Singing offers in part of CRYPT ROT‘s auditory horror, “Because I’m a slobbering, slavish fan of old school Swedish death metal, Embryonic Devils lit me up like a gasoline-soaked torch. The riffs have that massive, corrosive, toxic sound that one associates with the style, and with the aid of a skull-cracking rhythm section, they’re used to hurl the listener into a war zone, mixing barrages of automatic weapons fire and crushing tank attacks – and occasionally devolving into a doomed stagger… in a nutshell, Embryonic Devils will brutalize you, energize you, and fill you with skin-crawling dread.”

Unleash CRYPT ROT’s intense Embryonic Devils only at No Clean Singing RIGHT HERE.

Embryonic Devils shall be released via Southern Lord on LP and digital formats this Friday, April 28th; preorders are available HERE.

OKKULTOKRATI Euro/UK Spring Tour Commences; New Music Video For “Ocular Violence” Revealed

Norwegian mavericks OKKULTOKRATI have kicked off their Spring EU/UK tour in support of their inventive and addictive new album Raspberry Dawn, released in September through Southern Lord. In tandem with the tour kickoff, the band unveils a new video for the track “Ocular Violence.”

While paying homage to their native region’s 1990s black metal heritage, the cinematic synth/goth rock of the prior decade, and the raging early punk movement ahead of that, OKKULTOKRATI still manages to create sincerely original and infectious music through every bar of Raspberry Dawn, resulting in a starkly raw and original sounding album.

View the new video for the track “Ocular Violence,” directed by Hans Hansen, RIGHT HERE.

See OKKULTOKRATI’s previously-released videos for “Magic People” HERE, “Raspberry Dawn” HERE, and “Hidden Future” HERE, and stream all of Raspberry Dawn at Bandcamp HERE.

Raspberry Dawn is available on CD, LP, and digital platforms via the Southern Lord store.

A genuine album of the year contender…OKKULTOKRATI have blown all notions of what Scando-punk is clear across the Barents Sea… Stunning.” – Metal Hammer

Commendably individual, and coated in a dirty film of fuzz.” – Terrorizer

…nostalgia for those who went through a powerful goth phase in high school, while offering a vision into an alternate timeline when the ‘80s never ended, only got weirder. It must be heard to be believed…” – Invisible Oranges

Norway’s OKKULTOKRATI takes the age-old black metal imprint of snarling Venom-style vocals and general nihilism, and updates the proceedings with fresh approaches that employ punk, hardcore, death metal, goth and much more… Imagine Motörhead at their beer-raising fun best, but with synths, occasional piano, and more, then you may have the idea.” – Clrvynt

Like Venom meeting Warfare…Equally rocking and experimental – a rather brilliant balance to strike.” – Zero Tolerance
