JESUS PIECE: Philadelphia Hardcore Outfit Signs With Southern Lord; US July Tour With Darkest Hour + European August Tour Confirmed

Southern Lord announces the signing of JESUS PIECE, confirming the release of the band’s debut LP in 2018. JESUS PIECE is also confirmed to support Darkest Hour on their US tour beginning this week, and has a European tour confirmed for August.

JESUS PIECE is a Philadelphia hardcore band that simply plays what they want to hear, and they work tirelessly to play to everyone they can. Their anthems lyrically range from personal struggle and loss, to racism, police brutality, and many other social and political injustices.

JESUS PIECE formed in 2015 and self-released their first demo/EP in the same year, followed by a self-released EP in the Summer of 2016. Most recently, Bridge Nine Records released a split 7″ between JESUS PIECE and Malice At The Palace earlier this year. The band has paved their own way into the national scene by booking multiple headlining coast-to-coast tours among many bouts of regional touring and performances at notable festivals including This Is Hardcore, Nature World Fest, Sound And Fury, FYA Fest, and others. 2018 will see the band record their debut LP for release through Southern Lord.

JESUS PIECE will support Southern Lord labelmates Darkest Hour on their Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora Tour Part II which begins this weekend, and runs through July 23rd, with shows in Clifton, Virginia Beach, Spartanburg, Orlando, Margate, Tampa, Atlanta, and Fayetteville.

Also, just announced; JESUS PIECE will take August on their first tour international tour, hitting Europe and the UK. UNSANE Launches Summer Tour This Week; New Video Trailer Features First Audio From Southern Lord-Bound Sterilize LP

New York City noise rock kingpins UNSANE begin their Western US tour advancing their Southern Lord-bound eighth studio album, Sterilize, this week. The band has issued a trailer for the tour which includes the public’s first dose of the album’s damaging tones.

UNSANE‘s first tour for Sterilize begins this Saturday, July 15th in Portland, with shows in Seattle, Denver, Omaha, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Rock Island, Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis, Dallas, Austin, Houston, Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Jose through August 3rd. Fashion Week will provide opening support for the entire tour, which is based around a performance at AmRep Bash 17 in Minneapolis on July 21st.

Closing a five-year gap since the 2012 release of their Wreck LP through Alternative Tentacles, UNSANE makes a vicious return with the pummeling Sterilize, a record that recalls the most defining elements of the band’s seminal albums, surging with their unrelenting singular sound created by guitarist/vocalist Chris Spencer, bassist/vocalist Dave Curran, and drummer Vinnie Signorelli. Sterilize was produced by UNSANE, recorded by Dave Curran at Gatos Trail Studios in Yucca Valley, California, mixed by Andrew Schneider at Acre in New York City, and mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering in Chicago. Sterilize showcases UNSANE sounding as dense and damaging as ever, and sees them remaining as necessary as ever, nearly three decades since they began.

CIRCLE To Release New Studio Album, Terminal, Via Southern Lord June 23rd; “Kill City” Now Playing

CIRCLE is the very definition of genre-defying; a rare feat for any band, but effortlessly achieved by this prolific Finnish collective. CIRCLE’s latest album Terminal, confirmed for release June 23rd through Southern Lord, is pure hedonistic pleasure.

Never content on staying the same, CIRCLE has created an idiosyncratic cocktail of sonic fusions, conjuring an impulsive, dizzying energy that stirs a spirit of curiosity within the listener, and possesses all who encounter the band. Whilst many would run out of creative steam after more than thirty albums, CIRCLE continue to boldly explore sonic soundscapes, venturing curiously into terrains of Stooges-esque swagger, trance-inducing kraut rock mantras, beautiful electronic ambience, psychedelic rock noodling, arena storming AOR weirdness, ’70s prog rock extravagance, glam pop pomp, and of course their core sound, heavy metal, not to mention other peculiar and daring sounds that simply cannot be pigeonholed.

CRYPT ROT: No Clean Singing Streaming Embryonic Devils By Death Cult Founded By Former Homewrecker Members + LP Out Friday Via Southern Lord

As Southern Lord prepares to release the Embryonic Devils debut LP by Ohio black/death metal sect CRYPT ROT this Friday, the entire album has been unleashed upon the public through an early stream at No Clean Singing.

Formed in 2016 by a crew of scene veterans including several current/former members of Homewrecker, CRYPT ROT enlisted Bill Korecky at the Mars Compound (Integrity, Ringworm, Homewrecker) for the recording of Embryonic Devils, the resulting anthems delivering a crushing a high-gain sound that will grab listeners with its ferocity.

No Clean Singing offers in part of CRYPT ROT‘s auditory horror, “Because I’m a slobbering, slavish fan of old school Swedish death metal, Embryonic Devils lit me up like a gasoline-soaked torch. ZAKK SABBATH: Black Sabbath Cover Band Led By Guitarist/Vocalist Zakk Wylde To Release Limited Live In Detroit LP Via Southern Lord

ZAKK SABBATH, the Black Sabbath all-star cover band featuring guitarist/vocalist Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne), bassist Blasko (Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Zombie), and drummer Joey Castillo (Danzig, Queens Of The Stone Age, Bl’ast!) will release the limited edition Live In Detroit LP via Southern Lord Recordings on June 16th.

The three tracks comprising Live In Detroit were captured at the band’s thundering performance at The Fillmore in Detroit, Michigan on October 28th, 2016. OKKULTOKRATI Euro/UK Spring Tour Commences; New Music Video For “Ocular Violence” Revealed

Norwegian mavericks OKKULTOKRATI have kicked off their Spring EU/UK tour in support of their inventive and addictive new album Raspberry Dawn, released in September through Southern Lord. In tandem with the tour kickoff, the band unveils a new video for the track “Ocular Violence.”

While paying homage to their native region’s 1990s black metal heritage, the cinematic synth/goth rock of the prior decade, and the raging early punk movement ahead of that, OKKULTOKRATI still manages to create sincerely original and infectious music through every bar of Raspberry Dawn, resulting in a starkly raw and original sounding album.

SUNN O))): Northeastern USA/Southeast Canada Tour Begins Sunday, Followed By Performance At Convergence Festival In London

SUNN O))) bring their immense music back to the Northeast USA and Southeastern end Canada with a week of shows, beginning this Sunday, March 12th in Washington, DC followed by shows in Pittsburgh, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia through March 18th. Support on all shows will be provided by Southern Lord labelmates, Montreal-based/Southern Lord-signed Big|Brave, who have been seen opening for SUNN O))) on last year’s tours of the Southwest, Southeast and Midwest states and Europe.

Directly on the heels of the North American run, SUNN O))) will make a special appearance at London’s massive performing arts venue, Barbican Centre, as part of this year’s Convergence Festival on March 21st. Support for the performance will come from Icelandic singer and cellist, Hildur Guðnadóttir, who has played and recorded with bands such as Pan Sonic, Throbbing Gristle, and Múm. Guðnadóttir also wrote the arrangements for the Wildbirds & Peacedrums session as part of the Barbican’s Nils Frahm curated Possibly Colliding marathon weekend in July.
