LOINCLOTH Issues “Bestial Infernal” Video; Final LP, Psalm Of The Morbid Whore, Out Now Through Southern Lord

Virginia/North Carolina-based instrumental metal ministers LOINCLOTH have issued an official video for “Bestial Infernal”, the track hailing from the outfit’s final LP Psalm Of The Morbid Whore, which was issued last week through Southern Lord.

Packing nine new passages into a half-hour assault, Psalm Of The Morbid Whore‘s white-knuckled twists wrench in one’s gut like a rusted blade. As with their 2012-released Southern Lord debut LP, Iron Balls Of Steel, LOINCLOTH returned to Pershing Hill Sound in Raleigh, North Carolina to record with Greg Elkins, while mastering was handled by Brad Boatright (Sleep, Corrosion Of Conformity, Sunn O))), Obituary) at Audiosiege. Join LOINCLOTH in their final hour of worship.

Worship with LOINCLOTH through “Bestial Infernal” at THIS LOCATION.

Psalm Of The Morbid Whore is streaming in its entirety via Youtube HERE, Bandcamp HERE, and Soundcloud HERE.

Psalm Of The Morbid Whore is out now on Southern Lord; find the vinyl and merch bundles at the Southern Lord webshop HERE, and downloads via Bandcamp HERE.

LOINCLOTH is a culmination of years of worshiping at the altar of the riff. Psalm Of The Morbid Whore arrives with the promise of absolute pummel! Guitarist Tannon Penland and drummer Steve Shelton (Confessor) return with their twisted brand of instrumental metal on the forthcoming Psalm Of The Morbid Whore, this time around also enlisting the infernal hands of Tomas Phillips on bass, who collaborated with Penland in experimental outfit Gauchiste for their self-titled 2012’s release through Little Black Cloud Records. Penland, Shelton, and Phillips were joined by guitarist Craig Hilton who contributed to composition and live sonic assaults on tour with Sunn O))) and more.

Alternative Press published an interview with LOINCLOTH alongside an advance premiere of the single “Ibex (To Burn In Hell Is To Refine),” issuing in part, “The track is unusual for LOINCLOTH because not only is it of epic length (just short of eight minutes on an album where the bulk of tracks never get past three), but it also finds the band experimenting with atmospheric vistas along with their pneumatic tightness.” Within another intense interrogation of the band Noisey describes LOINCLOTH as, “the Southern Lord-backed instrumental quartet who specializes in impenetrably dense acrobatics marked by sinew, economy, and hypercomplex time signatures that consistently avoid baroque frills and cartoonish machismo.”

Svbterranean states, “Keelhaul, Meshuggah and the like are obvious reference points, but LOINCLOTH possess a sound all their own… The band’s sound on this record is a lot less frantic and opts for a more suffocating, rhythmically-jarring approach that locks listeners into a corner and strategically batters them with each and every note. It’s not quite as spastic, but it’s a great deal heavier.” Invisible Oranges offers, “Confessor was great because it sounded like doom metal falling down a flight of stairs, but performed in a calculated manner. LOINCLOTH takes that and ups the speed.

UNSANE: Entire Sterilize LP Streaming; Album Out Friday Through Southern Lord + Tour Begins Next Week

NYC’s long running kings of noise rock, UNSANE, offer their eighth crushing album with Sterilize, the record set for release this Friday through Southern Lord. Advancing the album’s release, Noisey has interrogated the band and is now streaming the record alongside the interview. Closing a five-year gap since the 2012 release of the Alternative Tentacles-issued Wreck LP, UNSANE makes a vicious return with Sterilize, a record that recalls the most defining elements of the band’s seminal albums, surging with their unrelenting singular sound created by guitarist/vocalist Chris Spencer, bassist/vocalist Dave Curran, and drummer Vinnie Signorelli. Sterilize showcases the group sounding as dense and damaging as ever, and sees them remaining as necessary as ever, nearly three decades since they began.

LOINCLOTH: Psalm Of The Morbid Whore, Now Streaming At Noisey; Final LP Sees Release Friday Through Southern Lord

Psalm Of The Morbid Whore, the final call to worship by Virginia/North Carolina-based instrumental metal cult LOINCLOTH, is now streaming in its entirety at Noisey, as the LP is prepared for its official release this Friday through Southern Lord. The advance album stream is joined by an in-depth interrogation with the band.

Packing nine new passages into a half-hour assault on Psalm Of The Morbid Whore, white-knuckled twists wrench in one’s gut like a rusted blade, though the by-the-throat percussive attack and tonal attributes are already enough to suffocate the listener. Noisey interrogated LOINCLOTH about the band’s final album and more, describing the band as, “the Southern Lord-backed instrumental quartet who specializes in impenetrably dense acrobatics marked by sinew, economy, and hypercomplex time signatures that consistently avoid baroque frills and cartoonish machismo.”

ALL PIGS MUST DIE Premieres “Blood Wet Teeth” At Metal Hammer; Hostage Animal Due October 27th Through Southern Lord

ALL PIGS MUST DIE shares the punishing new track “Blood Wet Teeth,” the second single from their upcoming album Hostage Animal, due out through Southern Lord October 27th.

The band offers, “Hostage Animal is the most dynamic but efficient of our albums. The idea was to get to a wider spectrum without meandering along the way. We enjoy playing together and making music that is as heavy as possible. Getting that feeling like you’re about to break apart when you are making violent music is something we chase after any time we are putting together new material.”

Stream/share ALL PIGS MUST DIE‘s “Blood Wet Teeth” HERE.

ALL PIGS MUST DIE‘s “Blood Wet Teeth” is now streaming exclusively through Metal Hammer at THIS LOCATION.

Also hear the previously released “A Caustic Vision” via Revolver Magazine HERE.

Preorders for Hostage Animal are now available in the US HERE, Europe HERE, and via Bandcamp HERE.

ALL PIGS MUST DIE has confirmed several new performances coinciding with the release of the new LP, with shows in Brooklyn on October 19th, Boston on October 20th, and Providence on October 21st. Additional tour dates will be announced shortly.

ALL PIGS MUST DIE Tour Dates:
10/19/2017 Saint Vitus Bar – Brooklyn, NY
10/20/2017 Great Scott – Boston, MA
10/21/2017 AS220 – Providence, RI

Four years since the release of their last full-length, ALL PIGS MUST DIE has returned with Hostage Animal, a ten-song album that distills aggressive music to its purest tenets. The band, now a five-piece with the addition of Brian Izzi (Trap Them) on guitar, is comprised of some of the most well-seasoned musicians on the eastern seaboard – Kevin Baker (The Hope Conspiracy), Ben Koller (Converge), Matt Woods (Bloodhorse), and Adam Wentworth (Bloodhorse). Hostage Animal is their most dynamic collection of work thus far

ALL PIGS MUST DIE unleashed their first full-length in 2011 with God Is War, the thirty-minute rip a nod to primeval disdain and anger. Exploring facets of human conflict one track at a time, God Is War introduced the world to a whole new spectrum of rage. In 2013, APMD upped the ante with Nothing Violates This Nature; having honed their craft with more speed and filth, the band pushed their sound closer to the edge.

Now, in 2017, the band is gearing up for the release of Hostage Animal which, like its predecessors, was recorded at Kurt Ballou’s GodCity Studio. But that is where the similarities end; Hostage Animal ushers in ten new songs that pulverize, gnash, and whirl with the band’s most punishing delivery yet. Hostage Animal showcases that ALL PIGS MUST DIE is far more than the sum of their parts, and their fusion of crust punk, hardcore, and metal is more ferocious than ever before.

Review copies of Hostage Animal will be issued in the days ahead. For coverage of ALL PIGS MUST DIE in North America contact dave@earsplitcompound.com and internationally contact lauren@rarelyunable.com.

FRIENDSHIP: Japanese Outfit To Issue Hatred LP Through Southern Lord In October; Tracks Streaming

Southern Lord has teamed up with their cohorts at Japanese label Daymare Recordings for the impending vinyl release of Hatred, the unrelenting debut LP by Japan’s mysterious FRIENDSHIP.

While FRIENDSHIP‘s identity remains an enigma, those who have encountered their antagonistic, loud, and murky sonic world, can testify to the sheer power of the auditory torture the band creates. FRIENDSHIP has previously self-released two CD EPs which sold out in a month since reissued as I & II vinyl and cassette version through Sentient Ruin. For their Hatred LP, the band delivers twelve caustic tracks in just over twenty-five minutes, the album recorded in their home city of Tokyo, the album then mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.

Originally released by Daymare Recordings on CD and digital formats back in June, Southern Lord will now issue FRIENDSHIP’s Hatred on vinyl October 20th. Blackened, dark, loud, fast, and intense, fans of prior Southern Lord releases by Nails, Heartless, Dead In The Dirt, Gust, and other brutally motivational grinding devastation should pay heed.

Stream FRIENDSHIP‘s “Tortures” and “Life Sentence” HERE; watch for physical preorders in the coming days.

Having shared the stage with the likes of Full Of Hell, Sumac, Endon, and others, and having gained a reputation for extremely loud live shows, FRIENDSHIP will fittingly open for the mighty Sleep in Tokyo in January. KOHTI TUHOA‘s 2015-issued debut LP, Rutiinin Orja, was considered by many as the most exciting hardcore punk record out of Scandinavia in ages. Their sophomore album Pelon Neljäs Valtakunta is constructed from similar building blocks of aggression based at sociopolitical injustice, but with the band’s sound taking a step further towards genre classicists such as Discharge and Disorder, not to mention classic Finnish hardcore punk acts such as Terveet Kädet, Varaus, and Riistetyt.

Recorded in May 2017 at V.R. Studio in Turku, Finland, Pelon Neljäs Valtakunta was engineered by Jussi Vuola, mixed by Jussi Vuola and KOHTI TUHOA, mastered and cut by Jukka Sarapää at Timmion Cutting, and finalized with artwork by returning artist Jaakko Karjula. The album crushes twelve relentless tracks in twenty minutes, including a cover of “Saatanan Lampaat” by Painajainen.

Stream KOHTI TUHOA’s “Kiire Läpi Elämän” and “Meille On Valehdeltu” from Pelon Neljäs Valtakunta at Southern Lord HERE.

BIG|BRAVE Streams Entire Ardor LP, Out Tomorrow Through Southern Lord

Montreal three-piece BIG|BRAVE will release their sophomore LP, Ardor, this Friday through Southern Lord. With just three songs that clock in for a forty-minute-long album, BIG|BRAVE has adopted a nearly unbearable level of urgency and intensity that weaves throughout Ardor. Chock full of swirling static, booming guitars, powerful drums-all the hallmarks that have made them one of experimental rock’s most exciting acts today-the album can be streamed in full today, featured on Bandcamp Daily, alongside an interview with the band.

Stream BIG|BRAVE’s Ardor, featured at Bandcamp RIGHT HERE.

As with their previous release, Au De La, the new Ardor album was recorded at the Hotel2Tango, this time by Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (of Jerusalem In My Heart). Jessica Moss (Thee Silver Mt Zion Memorial Orchestra), who was a special guest on Au De La, played violin on all the three new tracks, and Thierry Amar (Godspeed You! Black Emperor) played contrabass on two of the tracks.

Since their inception in 2012, BIG|BRAVE has demonstrated the fluidity of experimental rock and put everything into their music, until there’s nothing left to give. Their particular art in musical refinement expands ever gradually, unfurling into a very heavy, strong, and elevating force. As comfortable as they are with tidal waves of sound, BIG|BRAVE is unafraid to experiment with silence, oscillating between sparse, gentle arrangements and deep swells of noise.

Look for Ardor to be released this Friday, September 15th via Southern Lord. Watch for more news to be released in the weeks ahead.

BIG|BRAVE has also announced new tour dates coinciding with the release of Ardor, including one-off shows in Montreal and Brooklyn this month, and a run of North American dates supporting labelmates Unsane in December, with more dates to be announced.

BIG|BRAVE Tour Dates:

JESUS PIECE is a Philadelphia hardcore band that works tirelessly to play to everyone they can. Their anthems lyrically range from personal struggle and loss, to racism, police brutality, and many other social and political injustices. The band formed in 2015 and self-released their first demo/EP in the same year, followed by a self-released EP in the Summer of 2016. Most recently, Bridge Nine Records released a split 7″ between JESUS PIECE and Malice At The Palace earlier this year. The band has paved their own way into the national scene by booking multiple headlining coast-to-coast tours among many bouts of regional touring and performances at notable festivals including This Is Hardcore, Nature World Fest, Sound And Fury, FYA Fest, and others. 2018 will see the band record their debut LP for release through Southern Lord.

POWER TRIP To Support Cannibal Corpse For Fall US Tour; Band To Perform At Loudwire Awards + Live Footage With Volbeat Posted

Road warriors POWER TRIP have added another massive tour to their 2017 itinerary, as the band will support Cannibal Corpse this fall. POWER TRIP will be out on the road supporting Obituary and Exodus on their massive North American tour from September 14th through October 14th, with Dust Bolt confirmed as the opener. That month-long venture is followed by a set at the Monster Energy Houston Open Air in Houston, Texas on October 15th, where they’ll share the stage with Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Sour, Mastodon, Suicidal Tendencies, Five Finger Death Punch, Marilyn Manson, Prophets Of Rage, and many others. October 22nd will see POWER TRIP at the Monster Energy Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California, alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, Run The Jewels, Marilyn Manson, Mastodon, and tons more.

It has also been confirmed that POWER TRIP is one of the initial performers set to play at the inaugural Loudwire Music Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on October 24th. Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi has been announced as the Courage Award honoree, and Judas Priest’s Rob Halford will be receiving the “Lemmy” Lifetime Achievement Award, in addition to performances by Body Count, Halestorm, Starset, POWER TRIP, and more to be announced.

Directly following the two Monster Energy festivals and Loudwire Awards, the newly-announced tour will see POWER TRIP providing direct support for Cannibal Corpse on the band’s US fall trek. The tour will run from November 3rd through December 8th, with Gatecreeper providing opening support.

POWER TRIP vocalist Riley Gale has been documented performing with Volbeat at a recent concert the two bands played together, performing their track “Evelyn”. See the video RIGHT HERE.

Nightmare Logic, POWER TRIP’s most powerful effort yet, was released early this year to high critical acclaim and anticipation — their sophomore release does not disappoint. With hooks and tightness comparable to greats like Metallica, Pantera, or Pentagram, POWER TRIP punishes fans not only sonically but with pure songwriting skill. Nightmare Logic proves to be one of the year’s smartest and most crucial releases to spawn from the metal and punk scenes.
